WANT TO JOIN the RESEARCH GROUP?
If you want to join the group please read the text below before getting in contact
How can I join the group is a question we get a lot.
You can join as a graduate student. You will need to a project idea, and to then apply for a scholarship to cover your stipend and research costs, but the good news is there are many options. Some, but not all, are listed here. Identify scholarships you are eligible to apply for, and then drop Tim a line.
You can join as a post-doc. Whenever we have an opening for a post-doc we will advertise on this webpage and more broadly. We are always applying for funds for new projects, but currently we have no open positions.
You can join as a fellow. If you already have your PhD you can apply for Research Fellowships. Do drop a Tim a line with a copy of your CV and your interests if you are interested in applying for fellowships to come and join us.
What am I looking for?
You will believe that hypotheses we test should be informed by theory
All researchers in the group are prepared to have a go at learning how to develop theory and construct models. They may then go on to parameterize models by analyzing data they will collect, or help, collect.
Results are published in the scientific literature. The picture is a graphic from a recent publication from the group.
You will be collaborative, within the group, and beyond
Each group member has their own project, but collaboration is central to what we do.
The photo is taken in a field lab in Trinidad, where we work with collaborators from the US, on freshwater ecosystems.
You will want to work with individually marked organisms
We often help collect, statistically analyze, and model, populations and communities of wild organisms experiencing environmental change.
The photo shows Sonya Clegg, a key collaborator at Oxford who runs a long-term project on silvereyes, releasing a newly banded bird.
